Prof. Fayez A. Shoukr is a professor of invertebrates at Zoology Department, Faculty of Science, Tanta University, Egypt (2000-present time). He spends more than 40 years of teaching & research experience in the fields of Invertebrate Zoology in Faculties of Science, Education, Pre- Pharmacy and Pre-Dental. His teaching covers Invertebrate Systematics, Invertebrate Biology, General Zoology (Biodiversity), Systematic Zoology, Invertebrates and Phylogeny, Comparative Anatomy of Invertebrates, Invertebrate Embryology, Marine Ecology, Benthos, Coral reef ecosystem. He obtained his M. Sc. Thesis in 1978”Studies on sea anemones in Alexandria waters” and Ph.D. Thesis in 1982”Studies on some Coelenterates (Cnidarians) Inhabiting marine Egyptian waters”. He supervised and examined numerous postgraduate M. Sc. & Ph. D. theses from 1984 to present time.
A marine biologist interests in the study of invertebrate’s fauna. His main researches include studying biodiversity and biology of Sponges & cnidarians (sea anemones, hydroids, jellyfish & soft corals) at the environment of Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and Suez Canal, Egypt. Also, his research included the study of coral reefs invertebrates, echinoderms (sea cucumbers, sea urchins), crustaceans (sea spiders, isopods, amphipods, barnacles) and edible mollusks (bivalves, gastropods).
